All of our poultry is of a high standard; sourced from farms that care about welfare. and British where possible. On occasion, we source items such as chicken fillets or duck breasts from Europe. Our whole birds are always British and of the quality you would expect from a decent British chicken; full flavoured, with naturally plump flesh, no water and no additives or hormones. Our chicken fillets will not shrink into a puddle in the pan, or exude white stuff. They taste like chicken and have tender yet firm flesh that behaves as chicken breast should. All of our eggs are sourced from the same farm, a few miles down the road, and are freshly laid. Proper eggs with a decent yolk and a proud upstanding white. We do our own range of flavoured fillets and stir fry ready for the pan as we believe that modern convenience is important to you, but shouldn't involve a compromise on quality or move too far away from our understanding of real food.
In the industrial take over of our diet, the British chicken fared far worse than any other creature that we rear as food. Years of campaigning, with awful pictures of beakless birds and feathered moving carpets, has led to a widespread understanding of the plight of our chickens. This can only be a good thing, but it has left an industry in tatters as people demand poultry for less than the price of a premium coffee. Where there is poultry, there are eggs, but not many people around today would even consider buying a battery laid egg; most of us even understand the superior eating benefits of a really fresh egg. Providing good food, yet making it accessible to all, is the real challenge of the modern food industry; we want to do just that.
